ANNIE H. CARTWRIGHT
March 20, 1915-Dec. 21, 2009

Mrs. Annie Hollingshead Cartwright died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at Mississippi Care Center in Morton.
Mrs. Cartwright was a lifelong resident of Wayne County
until moving to Morton due to failing health in December,
2005, to be near her son and family.
Mrs. Cartwright was a retired homemaker, having
previously worked at the Wells Lamont Glove Plant.
Ms. Annie loved to be outside working in the garden,
taking care of the farm animals and working in her
flower beds. Ms. Annie always had a beautiful yard filled with shrubs and flowers as long as her health permitted.
Mrs. Cartwright was the oldest member of Zion's Rest
Baptist Church at the time of her death.
She had been a faithful member as long as her health
allowed, having served as children's Sunday School teacher
and VBS teacher for many years. She also served as secretary for the Zion's Rest Cemetery Association.
Mrs. Cartwright was predeceased by husbands Acie W. Hollingshead and Dennis Cartwright, parents Wilburn
and Mary Taylor, five brothers and two sisters.
Services for Mrs. Cartwright were held at 1 p.m.,Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, with burial at Zion's Rest Baptist Church Cemeteryin Wayne County. Officiating the services were
the Rev. Sime Morris Jr., and the Rev. Kenny Morris.
Visitations were held from 10 to11:30 a.m., on Tuesday,
Dec. 22, 2009 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, and
from 5 to 8 p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009 at Freeman
Funeral Home in Waynesboro. Survivors are her son and
his wife, Tony and Connie Hollingshead of Morton; two
grandsons, Keith Hollingshead, and Toney Hollingshead
Jr. and wife Kim of Brandon; five great-grandchildren,
Jannie Lynne, Kristen, Joshua, Jordan and Jarred, all of Brandon; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtice Morris and her husband,
the Rev. Sime Morris of Ellisville, and Mrs. Bernice
McIlwain of Bristol, Tenn.; two special nieces, Frances Hartley and Ruby Nell Lynn; and special nephews, Lawrence Taylor and wife Sybil and Ellery Taylor and wife Pattie, along with a host of other special nieces and nephews.
Freeman Funeral Home of
Waynesboro was in charge of arrangements, with Ott and
Lee Funeral Home of Morton assisting.
