C. W. Carter Died March 28
Clifford William Carter, 79, a former Toulon resident, died Friday, March 28, 1975, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield.
He was born in Stark County on June 3, 1895, a son of William Samuel and Helen Sundquist Carter. He married Lillian Rieke November 29, 1926. She survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Marguerite Humphrey of Springfield, Mrs. Joyce Pinks of Geneseo, Mrs. Iona Humphrey of Springfield, and Mrs. Ruth Ann Durbin of Toulon; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Two sisters, one brother, one infant son and one grandson [sic, presumably … "preceded him in death."]
Mr. Carter was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Toulon Congregational Church, Toulon Masonic Lodge, Peoria Shrine and World War I Barracks of Seminole, Florida.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Kidd Funeral Home with Rev. Porter E. Wright officiating. Masonic rites were conducted. Mrs. Helen Schmidt was organist.
Burial was in Toulon Municipal Cemetery.
