Mr. Joey Herbert Carter, age 58, died Sunday at his residence following a brief illness.

The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a 1975 graduate of Portal High School. Joey worked by ITT Grinnell in Statesboro for 28 years and had been a farmer for many years. He was a member of the Bloch House Hunting Club.

Joey was preceded in death by his father, F.N. Carter.

Surviving are his wife, Patty Davis Carter of Portal; a son, Travis Leon Carter (Erica) of Portal; his mother, Helen Deal Carter of Portal; a sister, Teresa Hartlin of Fernandina Beach, FL; two brothers, F.N. Carter, III "Toby" of Portal and Kim Carter of Portal and his beloved bulldog "Miss P.D.".

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 10:00am until 11:00am at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

Funeral services will be at 11:00am in the chapel with Rev. Don Berry officiating.

Interment will be in the Portal City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Barry Bland, Scott Skrine, Earl Motes, J.J. Lee, William Burke and Aaron Morris.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Block House Hunting Club.
