Chelan – Betty Pearl Carter, 63, Chelan, died Wednesday morning at Central Washington Hospital following a one-month illness.

She was born Betty Wilheim on Oct. 19, 1920, at Waterville and attended schools there. On April 15, 1939, she married James Carter at Wenatchee. Following their marriage they moved to the Lake Chelan area and Mr. Carter died in 1968.

Survivors include a son, Allen, Aberdeen; four daughters, Betty Knutson, Seattle, Janet Hanson, Beaverton, Ore., Mary Young, East Wenatchee, and Cora Carter, Richland; a sister, Mamie Mallot, Hoquiam; and 10 grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a grandson.
