Funeral services for Mrs. Effie Elizabeth Odom Carter, 97, are scheduled for 2pm Friday, Marth 27, 1998, at the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church with the Rev. Claude Hughes officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Golden Funerl Home.
Mrs. Carter died Monday, March 23, in Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Sydney Carter, Sr., a son, Joseph Sydney Carter, Jrs., and her parents, George Ogden Odom and Amanda Pernina Dunn Odom.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth C. and Dr. Denbo Montgomery of Lafayette; one daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Carter of Oak Ridge and eight grand children: Denbo Montgomery,Jr., MD, Marshall Montgomery, Thomas Montgomery, MD, Ann E. Gossen, Elizabeth Leigh Bernard, Todd Carter, Carmia Carter and Caroline Woods and 13 Great Grand children.
Pallbearers will be Todd Carter, Denbo Montgomery, Jr., MD, Marshall Montgomery, Thomas Montgomery, Kevin Gossen and Bart Bernard. Honorary pall bearers will be Clark M. Williams, George L. Sheppard, Gene Allen, Gerald Thompson and Buck Baker.
