Allie May Carter
(May 15, 1921 - January 26, 2011)

Mrs. Allie May Carter, 89, of Waycross died Wednesday afternoon at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Ware County to the late Joe Carter and Zona Miller Carter. Mrs. Carter had made Ware County her home for all of her life. She worked for Reuben Brothers Shoe Factory and Spatola Shoe Factory. Mrs. Carter was a member of the Church of God Apostolic. She loved to play the guitar and fish. She was always very friendly to anyone she met and loved people, doing anything she could for anyone. Mrs. Carter's greatest love and devotion was to her church. Her faith was strong and she loved being in church more than anywhere else.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Sirmans, three children, James Henry Ryan, Linda Nell Ryan, an infant son, and three brothers, Clyde W. Carter, Alvin C. Carter and Ivrom Carter.

Mrs. Carter is survived by her daughter, Emily Christine Cyr of Waycross, three grandchildren, Mae Darlene Simpson and her husband Daniel of Waycross, Emily Denise Herrin of Waycross, Michael Scott Cyr and his wife Amber of Waycross, eight great grandchildren, Jonathan Dennis Berneche, Christa Lee Berneche, Dustin Simpson, Delone Simpson, Anthony Charles Leggett, Sarah Mae Leggett, Patrick Amspacher, Ansleigh Cyr, four great great grandchildren, Jayla Berneche, Kayla Witherspoon, Michael Witherspoon, Anthony Leggett III, a brother, Rufus W. Carter and his wife Delores of Waycross, a sister, Annie Bell Mizell and her husband Tommy of Fernandina Beach, Florida and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
