Laverne Carter Adkins
(November 22, 1936 - October 12, 2007)

Laverne Carter Adkins, 70, of Montgomery, Alabama died Friday at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. She was born in Moultrie, Georgia to the late Rufus and Pauline Hall. She had made her home in Montgomery since 2003 but spent most of her life in Waycross, Georgia. Mrs. Adkins worked as both a waitress and as a factory worker. She loved and adored her fourteen grandchildren, and was so very proud of her nine great grandchildren. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Roxanne Carter, a brother, Johnny Hall, and four sisters, Thelma Thornton, Dorothy Howard, Martha Sweat and an infant sister.

She is survived by eight children, Gene Carter of Conyers, Georgia, Gary Carter of Covington, Georgia, Darrell Carter and his wife Patricia of Yulee, Florida, Jimmy Carter of Buford, Georgia, Teresa Huffman and her husband John of Deatsville, Alabama, Deanna Williamson and her husband Johnny of Atlanta, Georgia, Phillip Carter of Locust Grover, Georgia, fourteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren (with 2 on the way), two brothers, Joe Hall, Lavaughn Hall, a sister, Bertha Steedley and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Tuesday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel in Waycross, Georgia. Burial will follow in Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

A special visitation will be held 11 am, Monday in Conyers, Georgia at Scott Ward Funeral Services.
