John Alvin Carter, 91, of Rout 2, Bedford, died Tuesday, August 16, 1994, at Bedford county Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bedford County, February 22, 1903, son of the late Allie Carter and Fannie Overstreet Carter. He was a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Highways and a member of Cool Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church. He is survived by his wife, Beadie Orange Carter; three sons, all of Bedford; two daughters, Raleigh, N.C, Madison Heights; a sister, Thaxton, Va. [Names removed for privacy]; 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, August 19, 1994, at Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Earl Ragland officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 - p.m. Thursday at Carder-Tharp.
