BETTENDORF - Archie "Jake" Carstensen, 83, of Bettendorf, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2005, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport, following a brief illness.
Private funeral services were held in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. There was no visitation. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Genesis Visiting Nurse Association.

He was born in Davenport on December 23, 1922, the son of Herman and Caroline (LaFeber) Carstensen. On June 22, 1946, he married Ursula H.L. Michel in Davenport. Mr. Carstensen served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired in 1987 from Rock Island Tobacco.

Survivors include his wife, Ursula "Mickey"; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Robert Jewell, of Maysville, and Julie and Robert Rath, of Hamburg, N.Y.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Carolyn Crews, Mary Weber, Barbara Neff, Charlotte Decker, and Kathryn Schmidt.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Osborn Little, two sisters, Dorothy Carter and Lois Timmerman, and three brothers, Robert, Joseph, and Lawrence Carstensen.
