SCRANTON -- Barbara Jean DuBose Carsten, 47, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, in the Medical University of South Carolina after an illness.

Mrs. Carsten was born in Florence County, a daughter of the late Ryan Ivan and Mamie Gertrude Hoover DuBose. She was a graduate of Roy Hudgens Academy and was Office Manager for Sparrow & Fair Tractor Company for 29 years. Mrs. Carsten was a member of High Hill Free Will Baptist Church where she was the Church Organist, Sr. Class Sunday School Teacher and member of the Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Benjamin "Benny" Carsten of Scranton; two sons, Robert Benny "Bobby" Carsten and Ryan "Brad" Carsten, both of Scranton; a sister, Mrs. Woody (Frances) Feagin of Scranton; and two brothers, Glen Ivan DuBose and Steve Ryan DuBose both of Scranton.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, in High Hill Free Will Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
