Mariah Carroll was the daughter of Michael Carroll from England and was said to have been born 'at sea' on the way from England. She was the second wife of Erby Boyd, married 18 July 1841. She and Erby were parents of eight children, Julia Ellen, Isaac, Selina Elizabeth, Michael C., Martha, Mariah, Mary Jane and Theresa Ann. Erby already had seven children with his first wife Jencie Cooper to add to the eight with Mariah.
