Kathleen Carroll, age 54, lost her four year long fight with breast cancer at home on Friday, August 1, 2003, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on March 17, 1949, in Beloit, WI, daughter of Glen and Mary (Harding) Garey. She married Richard Carroll on April 25, 1970. Kathleen graduated from Janesville High School in the class of 1967. Kathleen was a longtime Milton resident. She was employed by the Milton School District and Johnson Bank Corp. Kathleen belonged to the First Congregational Church in Milton and was a deacon and Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels as coordinator, Relay-for-Life as co-chairman, she prepared Milton wrestling meals and she oversaw the Milton football concession stand.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, Richard Carroll of Milton, her parents, Glen and Mary Garey of Janesville; a son, Benjamin (Marsha Cisneros) Carroll; a daughter, Jill Carroll of Milton; a grandchild, Kassidy Carroll; 3 brothers; Glen M. Garey of Menomonee Falls, WI, Charles Garey, and John Garey, both of Janesville, 2 sisters; Alice Hoium and Elizabeth (Randall) Fehr, both of Janesville; mother and father-in-law, Clifford and Luella Carroll, of Milton, a sister-in-law, Darlene Garey of Janesville; brother-in-law, Terry (Joyce) Carroll of Dodgeville and Steve (Tammy) Carroll of Milton and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2003, at the First Congregational Church in Milton, with Pastor Herbert Saunders officiating. Burial will be in the Milton Junction Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Albrecht Funeral Home, Hwy. 26, Milton, and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. A memorial is being established in her name.
