RAWLINGS,MARYLAND -- Alda June (Iser) Carr, 94, of McMullen Highway, Rawlings, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at the Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing.
Born on June 8, 1917, at Rawlings, she was a daughter of the late William E. and Julia Catherine (Dawson) Iser. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Carr, who was killed in Germany in World War II on Dec.17, 1944; four sisters, Lorena Staggs, Nannie Thrasher, Rebecca Taylor and Bessie House; four brothers, Richard, Edgar, Sylvester and Leonard Iser and her longtime companion, Earl Eisler.
Mrs. Carr was a 1937 graduate of Bruce High School. She was formerly employed with IBM in Washington, D.C. and retired with 37 years of service at the Celanese Amcelle Plant. She was a member of the Dawson United Methodist Church, the Sunday School at the church and both the Dawson and Rawlings Senior Citizens.
Surviving are one sister, Nellie Rexroad and husband Therman, of Rawlings, and numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Dawson United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Lowell Garland officiating. Friends may also call at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Dawson Cemetery.
