Annette R. Carr died at Clarian North Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born November 10, 1919 in Baumont de Perigord, France. She was the daughter of Charles A. and Gabrielle (nee de Lanauze) Reese. She grew up and was educated in France until 1938 when she came to the U.S. to rejoin her father and stepmother near Boston, MA, as he had returned five years earlier following the untimely death of Annette's mother. She attended Radcliffe College and graduated from Simmons College in 1942. She worked in the public library system in New York City and as a medical librarian in teaching hospitals in Hartford, CT and Fall River, MA until 1946 when her husband, John R. Carr, Jr., returned from service overseas. They had met in Boston and married in 1944 before he shipped out to Europe, attached to the 4th Armored Division of the Third Army. By reason of ancestry on her father's side, she was a member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in Indiana and the Mayflower Society. On her mother's side, she was proud to have been a member of the de Vassal family which celebrated its millennium in 1987 in France. She also was a member of the Children's Museum Guild, the Indianapolis Day Nursery Auxiliary, the Players Club, Alliance Française, and a devout member of St. Luke's Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, her children: John R. Carr, III (Joan) of Indianapolis, Dr. Daniel J. Carr of Atlanta, Ga, Michele C. Kiene (Rudi) of Schwetzingen, Germany, and Gabrielle M. Carr (Kevin Peers) of New Albany, IN, and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 31, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Crown Hill Cemetery. Arrangements handled by Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel, Indianapolis. [Taken from Indianapolis start online obituary October 30, 2007]
