AURORA, CO - Ruth C. Balch, 91, of Aurora, Colorado, and formerly of Chanute, Kansas, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, in Aurora, Colorado.

She was born Oct. 16, 1912, in Kansas City, Missouri.

She grew up in Paola, Kansas, and graduated from the University of Kansas.

She moved to Chanute in 1936 and to Colorado in 1979.

She was active in Shakespeare, and art and literature clubs in Chanute, and was president of Kansas Episcopal Churchwomen in the 1960s.

She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.

She married Joe F. Balch. He died in 1978.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara J. Humphrey, of Aurora, CO, and Sally B. Hurme, of Alexandria, VA; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held on June 20, 2004 in Aurora, Colorado.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Chanute, Kansas, at a later date.

Memorials to St. Stephen's Organ Fund, St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, One Del Mar Circle, Aurora, CO 80011, are suggested.
