Graduated in 1910 Newport High & went on to Galloway College in Searcy, Ar. Doris's Aunt Nellie took the money left by her father William H. Morris & gave Doris the college education to become a teacher. Doris taught in several areas of Ar. & passed the examinations. She attended the Music Conservatory in Cincinnati, Ohio, also. She went to Flagstaff, Az. for summer school & to get an Az. Teaching cert., after teaching in Ft. Smith for several years. She was offered more money & the train ticket to Az. She accepted a teaching position in Miami, Az., a copper mining town in the wild west of those days. She taught school there & met George. They were married in Az. In 1921, spent their honeymoon in Chicago & shortly after moved to Long Beach, Ca.
