Mrs. Elizabeth Carnahan, a pioneer and very well known resident of Kalamazoo, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edwin R. Burrell 449 Academy street, died suddenly at 3:30 o'clock this Wednesday morning. Mrs. Carnahan, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Park, was born in Genesee, Livingston county, N. Y., September 23. 1828. She was married to Edwin Carnahan at that place in 1850. Mr. and Mrs. Carnahan came to Kalamazoo in June of 1866 and Kalamazoo has been the home since that time. She was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian church of this city and was known to nearly all of the older residents of the city. Mrs. Carnahan had been a widow since 1900. For many years before that time and up to four years ago the residence was on Dutton street. For the past four years, however, Mrs. Carnahan had been living with her daughter, having been a n invalid for the past three years. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. David McDonald and Mrs. Edwin R. Burrell, both of this city, and granddaughter, Mrs. James Francis Sickman of London, Eng., one sister, Mrs. Jane Thomas, of Phillips Creek, N. Y., and two brothers, Robert Park of Genesee, N. Y., and David Park of this city. The funeral will be held at the home of the daughter, Mrs. Burrell, on Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The Rev. H. W. Gelston will conduct the funeral services.
