Marie Gaulding Carnahan, age 105. She was the daughter of William Samuel and Willie Pearl Gaulding.

She graduated from John Marshal High School and went to work for the Life Insurance Co. of Virginia.

In 1930 she married Truman Earl Carnahan and moved to WashingtonD.C.

In 1935 they moved to Fresno.

Her daughter, Barbara was born in 1931 and her son, Robert in 1938.

She went to work for the County of Fresno Board of Supervisors where she remained for twenty five years retiring in 1970.

She was a long time member of Sierra United Methodist Church and a member of the Sierra Club for over twenty years.

She loved the mountains and spent many occasions in Yosemite, Tuolumne Meadows and the high sierra camps.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1942; daughter, Barbara in 2005; and son, Robert in 2004.

Marie is survived by her son-in-law, Lloyd R. Evans of Fresno; nephews, Lloyd Burns of Fresno; Vaughn Gilliam of Santa Maria; and niece, Doris Fitzgerald of Va; cousins, Charlotte Foristiere of Fresno, Judith Lawes of CT. and Jean Davenport of Va.

A Graveside Service will be held at Belmont Memorial Park.

A Celebration of Marie's Living Century will be held at the Sierra VistaChurch, 4609 E. Illinois Ave in Fresno.
