Catherine (Carmer) Baker

Catherine (Carmer) Baker, 73, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, at her residence in Greenwood.

She was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Columbus. Her parents were Everett and Hannah A. (McKinney) Carmer. She married Harold E. Baker in Columbus on Jan 8, 1947. He survives. Other survivors include two sons, Malcolm R. Baker of Columbus and Gerald E. "Gary" Baker of Greenwood; a daughter, Deborah L. Murdock of Greenwood; a brother, Thomas D. Carmer of Columbus; two sisters Margaret Burton of Sebring, Fla., and Inez A. Morgan of Columbus; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Carmer and Cecil Carmer; and four sisters, Edna Young, Mary Tucker, June Crossland and Charline Brown.

She was employed by Wal-Mart of Greenwood for seven years, working in the shoe department as a customer service specialist.

She was a member of Suburban Baptist Church since 1962.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Suburban Baptist Church, 722 E. County Line Road, Indianapolis. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus. Arrangements are being handled by Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel.
