"Prescott Carmack, Former Monongahelan, Dies On West Coast
Prescott Carmack, former Monongahelan, died at his home, 2311 Birch Street. Santa Ana, California, Friday afternoon, April 30. Death was caused by a sudden and acute heart-attack; he had not been ill. He had been employed by the Los Angeles School district but was retired; his age would be about 66 years. The deceased was born in Monongahela, his father Shelby Crall Carmack, who died several years ago, and his mother, Lillie Shepler Carmack who lives in Chico, Calif. Mr. Carmack was educated in Monongahela schools, attended High School, and Kiskisminetas Springs School for Boys at Saltsburg, Pa. During the construction of the Panama Canal he was employed there, and he served in the Air Corps in World War I. After the family removed from Fourth Street, site of the Bell Telephone property - the house razed - to California he married. Surviving are his wife. Helen; his mother; one brother Wilbur of Sacramento, and a sister, Sarah (married) of Chico."
