Delbert "Del" Carlson, 92, lifelong Poplar resident died Fday, Dec 21, 2012, in his home, surrounded by his family. He was born April 12, 1920, in Poplar, to Axel and Hedwig 9Nelson) Carlson,

Del grew up on a farm in Poplar where he learned to love the earth and soil. He married Inez Knudson on June 23, 1945, in Duluth and celebrated 57 years of marriage before she passed away April 16, 2012.

Del was employed as a heavy equipment operator for McClean Construction. He was a longtime member of Mission Covenant Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and enjoyed, as he expressed it, "a quiet life."

In addition to his wife, Inez, Del is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Aleda Carlson; and a brother, Albin Carlson.

Del is survived by three daughters, Beverly Jensen, Superior, Janice (David) Stack, Superior and Delores (Danny) Thormodsgard, Poplar; one son, Denis Carlson, Barron, WI; seven grandchildren, Todd (Raeann Hamlin) Stack, Angela (Ahmed) Maarmoun, Rachel (Mike Leland) Stack, Christopher (Staci) Stack, Heidi (Steve) Karshbaum, Tyrel (Carly) Botten and Orrin Botten; two step-grandsons, Daryl Thormodsgard and Dwayne (Jessica) Thormodsgard; six great-grandchildren, Meradith, Madison, Teagen, Ella Mae, Joseph and Alyson; six step-great-grandchildren, Ali, Rawia, Charlotte, Conner, Alaris and Jade; and several nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in Poplar Cemetery.
