Lois Brewer
On the last day of May in 1926, a fourth little girl was born in Logan to humble, hard-working parents, John Albin and Mary Moser Carlson, who were still mourning the death of their third daughter, 2-year-old Helen, a few days before Christmas. Little Lois must have filled a particularly empty place in her grieving mother's arms as she was cuddled and coddled. Seven-year-old Anna and five-year-old Ruth were happy to have a baby in the house again. But death visited the little family once more when, at the height of the depression in 1932, just ten days before Lois's 6th birthday, her beloved father died.
Those were just beginnings. As most lives are, Lois's has been filled with both heartache and happiness--90 years' worth in her case. But her grandchildren and others might mistakenly suppose that her mortal experience has been mostly simple and serene. That's because she became so good at counting her blessings and savoring the best from her life.
Lois Carlson married Billie Marshall Brewer on 7 March 1947. Together they raised five children. Bill passed away in1995. Mother spent most of her married and widowed life in Clearfield, Utah where she worked at Clearfield State Bank for many years as a teller and auditor. She served in a variety of positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life, and especially loved her nine years working in the Ogden LDS Temple.
After 22 years of widowhood, on March 11, 2017, Lois was reunited with her eternal sweetheart Bill; her parents; her three sisters and their spouses Anna (Duane) Perkins, Ruth (Glenn) Blaser, Helen Carlson; several sisters and brothers-in-law and a great-grandchild Jenny.
She is survived by five children and their spouses, Larry (Maryanne) of Harrisville, Christie (Kent) Malan of North Ogden, Julie (Jay) Hansen of Brigham, Kevin (Laura) of Morgan and Cathy (Marty) Covington of Midway; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and her brother Carl Carlson of Cypress, CA.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Logan City Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 16th from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd.
