Lavena M. Bocock went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 7, 2012, at her home at the age of 80. She was born on August 14, 1932, to W.R. and Velma (Langston) Carlisle in Plainview, TX.

She moved to Clovis in the sixth grade. She attended Clovis School and graduated from Clovis High School in 1949.

She married Barney J. Bocock on September 11, 1949, at First Baptist Church in Clovis, NM. They were married 60 years.

In 1956, they started State Electric, an electrical contracting business which later became State Electric and Mechanical which they owned and operated until their retirement from contracting in 1980. She was the secretary and bookkeeper for their business.

She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Clovis. She was a charter member of Parkland Baptist Church and member of the Ruth's Sunday School Class. She formally served as Church Treasurer for 43 years. She also kept up the Church scrapbooks for many years. She loved her church. She was a dedicated servant and she loved her Lord.

She was a charter member of the Clovis Chapter of Pilot Club. She attended several Pilot Club conventions.

She enjoyed her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed her friendships with her Sunday School Class and Pilot Club Friends. She enjoyed shopping and decorating. She loved to take pictures of her family. She enjoyed listening to piano music.

She was a very loving and caring generous person. She was a wonderful and beautiful daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was devoted to her family.
She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and her loving sweet spirit.

She was survived by one son, of Edgewood, NM; one daughter, of Clovis, NM; one sister, Raylene of Georgetown, TX; four grandchildren, of Edgewood, NM; of Glendora, CA; of Ft. Worth, TX; of Dallas, TX; three great -grandchildren; one aunt, Edna of Willow Park, TX; one cousin, Zaida of Logan, NM; one sister-in-law, Betty of Sedona, AZ; nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Barney; her mother, Velma Davis; her father, W.R. Carlisle; and her sister, Jean Obenhaus.

A celebration of life service was held at Parkland Baptist Church in Clovis with Pastor Wayne Boydstun and Dr. Herbert Bergstrom officiating. Burial followed at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Jeremy Bocock, David Bocock, Hayden Bocock, Hudson Bocock, James Walker, and Dick Gressett. Honorary pallbearers will be her Ruth's Sunday School Class.
