Chico Daily Record, Monday Morning, August 15, 1898, pg 1 col 4: Death of Another Pioneer. Benjamin F. Carlisle Passes to the Other World. Was One of the Many Daring Persons Who Crossed the Plains in 1849. Benjamin F. Carlisle, a pioneer of California, died last evening at the Guill farm, at the age of 76 years. The cause of death was old age.

Deceased was a native of Kansas, and came to California in 1849, bringing with him on the journey across the plains John Guill. During the past ten years he has been residing at the Guill farm, where, when he was able, he made himself useful. During the past two years he has been failing, and was unable to do work of any kind, but was accorded a good home and care.

The relatives of the deceased are a sister and brother in Iowa, two brothers residing in San Benito county, and two brothers in this county, Samuel Carlisle of Cherokee being one of them.

The remains were brought to the undertaking parlors of Thomas Bicknell last evening.

The time of the funeral will not be set until the relatives are heard from.
