Robert Jerome Carley - 94, born in Mobile, AL on September 20, 1915, died in a local hospital Saturday, May 8, 2010. Mr. Carley was a graduate of St. Joseph School in Mobile, and McGill Institute, Class of 1933. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He retired after a long career as a route salesman for the 7-Up Bottling Company. He was an active member of Little Flower Catholic Church in Mobile. He had an unwavering faith in God, and was a faithful altar boy until he was 92 years old. He married the love of his life, Mary Jane McAuvic, in 1943. They were inseparable for the next 34 years. He was a true family man who loved his children and grandchildren without question. He was passionate about his hometown, its heritage, and its future. He attended every presentation of the America's Junior Miss Finals except the first one in 1958. Mr. Carley was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Jane Carley; his sisters, Lois C. McDonald and Florence C. McGonagle; his granddaughter, Michele Rose Paul; and his son-in-law, Joseph Harper Sellers. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon C. Sellers and Linda Rose (Charles); sons, Don, Douglas, Robbie, Gary (Leslie), and Greg (Cheryl) all of Mobile; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mr. Carley at 12 noon on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 808 Springhill Ave. in downtown Mobile. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the mass. Interment will be in Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Rose, Joseph Sellers, Sean Carley, Chad Carley, Ryan Carley, Russell Carley, and Jimmy Botts. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Little Flower Catholic Church or School or to your charity of choice. Condolences may be offered at www.radney Arrangements by:
