SENECA FALLS - Alexander "Alex" J. Carissimi Jr., 91, of Clinton St., Seneca Falls, N.Y., died Wednesday (January 20, 2016) at Seneca Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Waterloo, N.Y. Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, on Sunday (January 24) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial for Alex will be celebrated on Monday (January 25) at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Seneca Falls with Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor, as celebrant. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls.

Alex was born in Seneca Falls, N.Y. on January 18, 1925 the son of the late Alexander Sr. and Gioconda Zanello Carissimi. He was a life resident of Seneca Falls and had served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was retired from the former Phillips-GTE-Sylvania Co of Seneca Falls where he was a machinist. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Seneca Falls. He was a member and past fire chief of the Seneca Falls Fire Department, a member of the Kirk-Casey Post #366 American Legion, Seneca Falls, a member of the Lt. Cyrus Garnsey Post #1323 V.F.W., Seneca Falls. He was a former member of the Seneca Falls Knights of Columbus, Council #222 and a former member of the Seneca Falls Elks Lodge #992. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club of Phillips-GTE-Sylvania of Seneca Falls and had served as a union steward for Phillips-GTE-Sylvania.

He is survived by one daughter, Donna (Steven) Deary, Seneca Falls, N.Y.; three sons, John T. Carissimi, Brewster, N.Y., James (Brenda) Carissimi, Seneca Falls, N.Y., Paul Carissimi, Seneca Falls, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Alex was predeceased by his wife, Mary Verzillo Carissimi who died January 25, 2010; two sisters, Liza Lopez and Lucy Capaldi and four brothers, Frank, Anthony "Chaut," Joseph and Robert Carissimi.
