Catherine was born about 1842 in Ireland.  She married Peter Anderson in Coles County, Illinois on 8 Nov 1862 (FamilySearch.org).  Some online marriage indexes list the date as 28 Oct 1862, and a 1909 Mattoon, Illinois newspaper article regarding divorce proceedings lists the date as 16 Nov 1862 which also states that Peter left the household in 1885.

MRS. CATHERINE ANDERSON.

Mrs. Catherine Anderson died in the home of her daughter, Mary Anderson, 1145 East Eldorado street at 5 o'clock Monday afternoon.  She was the wife of Peter Anderson, who is at present visiting in Indianapolis.  Mrs. Anderson was born in Ireland 61 years ago, and came to Illinois when 14 years old, and settled in Mattoon.  She came to Decatur about a year ago.  Beside her husband, she leaves the following children: Miss Mary Anderson of Decatur, Mrs. Maggie Gilbert, of Sacremento, Cal., Clara Anderson, of Oakland, Cal., Catherine Rusk of Alaska and Mrs. Louis Ostenheimer of Indianapolis.  The body will be taken to Mattoon for burial.  No funeral arrangements have been made.

The body of Mrs. Catherine Anderson was taken to Mattoon Tuesday evening at 8:40, where funeral services will be conducted today.

DEATH OF MRS. PETER ANDERSON IN DECATUR

The remains of Mrs. Peter Anderson will arrive here tonight over the Illinois Central from Decatur, where her death occurred on Monday night.

Funeral services will be conducted from the church of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday morning at nine o'clock and burial will be made in Calvary cemetery.

Mrs. Anderson at one time lived in Mattoon and had her membership in the local Catholic church.  Her death occurred at the home of a daughter in Decatur, she having arrived there at recent date from the home of a brother, who lives in Seattle, Wash.  Still another daughter, it is understood, lives in Lincoln, Neb.

So far as is known there are no relatives of the deceased living in Mattoon.  The remains on arriving here will probably be taken to the Chapel of Miller & Phillips, local undertakers.
