Adela Benavidez, 92 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012 in Scottsbluff. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Adela was born on December 16, 1920 in Mexico to Emidio and Simona (Gamboa) Cardenas. She married Faustino Sermeno in 1936. He passed away in 1943. Adela married Adan Benavidez in 1944. They moved to Scottsbluff in 1948 and became a citizen in 1982. Adan passed away in 1998.Survivors include her daughter Mary Valenzuela of Scottsbluff, Naomi Powers of Arizona and Jenny McNicholas of Colorado; sons John Sermeno of California and Riley Sermeno of Ogallala; sisters Maria Martinez of Santa Rosa, TX, Frances Guiterrez of Belton, TX and Jesusa Alvarado of Peoria, AZ; 14 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Faustino Sermeno and Adan Benavidez, brothers Rito Gamboa and Juan Gamboa, sister Aurora Rojas and son Ishmael Benavidez.
