Virginia Marie Batch, 81, of Baden, passed away on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, in Heritage Valley Sewickley due to complications from heart surgery.
She was born Virginia Marie Canterbury on Aug. 29, 1931, in Freedom, PA, a daughter of the late Helen Bastian Canterbury and the late George Canterbury and stepdaughter of the late Charles Klinesmith.
Virginia was a pillar of strength, love and support to her family. She was a tender hearted, funny, gentle, patient and wise woman who had a smile that could light up a room. She was the best wife, mother and grandmother a family could dream of and a dear devoted friend to many.
In addition to her parents and stepfather, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Batch Sr.; a daughter, Joyce Zielinski and brothers, John and Gary Klinesmith.
Surviving are a son, George (Darlene) Batch, Jr., Myrtle Beach, SC; a granddaughter, Christina Riley, Pittsburgh, PA; two grandsons, George A. Batch, Baden and Matthew Batch, Ambridge, PA; a great-grandson, Carter Batch; brothers, Kenneth Canterbury, Palm Bay, Florida; Charles Klinesmith, Largo, FL and Terry Klinesmith, Freedom, PA; a sister, Nancy Cresson, Mauk, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the JOHN SYKA FUNERAL HOME INC., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Toney Salva, pastor of Discovery Christian Church of Cranberry. Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
