Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 8, at Hebron Baptist Church near Vaiden for Mrs. Lillie Canon Braswell, 87, who passed away on June 7 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Florence Parkerson, in Snyder Ark. Services were conducted by the Rev. N. L. Threet, assisted by Rev. S. K. Powell of Hamburg, Ark.

Interment was made in Hebron cemetery by the side of her husband who donated the land for the church and cemetery many years ago when they resided in that community. Mountains of beautiful flowers covered her grave – tributes of love and esteem. The following grandsons served as pallbearers, Lonnie, Morris, Earl, Billy, Jesse, Albert, Henry, Elmer, and Jimmie Braswell and Dennis Parkerson.

Mrs. Braswell, who was the daughter of the late Henry Canon and his wife, Mrs. Emmaline Brooks Canon, originally from South Carolina, was born in Montgomery County on October 21, 1861. She was married to D. Milford Braswell 69 years go. To this union, ten sons and two daughters were born. Mr. and Mrs. Braswell lived in the Hebron community during the early years of their married life, moving from there to Attala County near Kosciusko. Mr. Braswell passed away in 1919. In 1931, Mrs. Braswell went to Snyder, Ark., to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Parkerson.

Mrs. Braswell was loved and admired for her many lovable traits of Christian character. Tranquility and peace were hers and love and gentle thoughtfulness. The memory of her long life of self-sacrifice and loving kindness will ever linger in the minds of those who knew her. Her love of humanity was manifested in her ever willingness to serve others. She was a member of the Methodist Church from early childhood and was ever faithful to its duties and responsibilities.

She was endowed with a keen wit, strong mind, lovable disposition and a pleasing personality. All these she early consecrated to the Master's use. Her reputation for generosity and hospitality was known far and near. Her life was an inspiration and challenge to all who knew her, whom to know was to love.

In her long years of useful living, Mrs. Braswell remained her ever gentle self, doing golden deeds with charming simplicity and following, with beautiful devotion, her Christian faith.

Aunt Ditty Braswell passed away at the home of her only daughter, Mrs. Florence Parkinson of Snyder, Ark. & was buried here June 8. She was 86 years old last Oct.

She had lived in & near here the greater part of this time. After going to Snyder to make her home, she would return to visit relative & friends & to the cemetery where her loved ones were sleeping. As long as her health would permit. We have missed those visits now for several years.

To know Aunt Ditty was to love her; she was good cheer & kindness wherever she went. Her passing marks the going of the last of her family of brothers & sisters, also the last member of a large family.
