Carolina "Carrie" Padilla Candelaria, age 96, lifelong Albuquerque resident, was born on September 20, 1908 in Albuquerque, has left for a heavenly journey with the angels.
Carrie is survived by her children, Mary Ann Rael and her husband, Tony, Bernie Candelaria and his wife, Viola, Gino Candelaria and his wife, Vera and Pete Candelaria and his wife, Chris, ten grandchildren, Dorothy Marez, Diana Fernández, David Candelaria, Judy Candelaria, Pete Louis Candelaria, Yvette Candelaria, Karroll Candelaria-Bauer, Bernard Thomas Candelaria, Tina Bustos and Tom Candelaria, 16 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, a brother, Amado Padilla with numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be recited at the San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church (Old Town) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday February 15, 2005. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at the San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church followed by Burial Service to join her husband, Bernardo Elfego Candelaria and Jeannie Fernandez at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pete Candelaria, Tom Candelaria, Bernard Thomas Candelaria, David Candelaria, Elias Marez and Michael Marez. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Armijo, JR Chávez, Marty Zamora, Richard Zamora and Grant Bauer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Casa Angelica. Carrie maintained a spiritual religious Catholic life and was a member of the Sacred Heart League.
