Erma D. Campbell, 102, passed away Sunday April 3, 2011 in her residence in South Bend. Erma was born in Haskel, IN on February 6, 1909 to the late Earl and Glennie Clark. She was married to Donald W. Campbell on June 1, 1929, who preceded her in death on January 28, 1993.

She is survived by eight loving daughters, Joanna (Dennis) Starner of Mankato, MN, Priscilla (Kenneth) Wolfe of Englewood, FL, Mary (John) Thompson of Garden City, MI, Phyllis (Gregg) Tegman of Mt. Washington, KY, Sue (Gene) Czarnecki of Westville, IN, Miriam Van Dusen of Dowagiac, MI, and Donna Priebe and Grace Smith of South Bend. She is survived by sixteen grandchildren, and many great-grand children. Erma was the eldest child in her family. She is survived by two brothers, Stuart (Carrie) Clark of South Bend and Dwight (Anna) Clark of Greenville, SC, and sisters-in-law, Eunice Clark and Evelyn Schwenk of New Carlisle. She was preceded in death by sisters, Patsy VanEmon, Phyllis Hensell, and Jean Richardes, and brothers, Arthur, Lawrence, Vernon, and John Clark.

Erma was a dedicated wife, mother, homemaker, and volunteer. She was a devoted member of St. Paul's Memorial United Methodist Church for over sixty years. She served the church in many capacities, among them being president of the Women's Society of Christian Service. She also served as a leader of 4-H and Camp Fire Girls. She was a 1927 graduate of New Carlisle High School and was a member of the first girls' basketball team. Some of the activities she enjoyed throughout her life were gardening, reading, genealogy, rug hooking, crocheting, chair caning, and traveling. In recent years she enjoyed reading, puzzles, and visits from family and friends.
