Cooper Sr., graduate of Americus High School in Americus, Ga., attended Georgia Southern College, taught at First Baptist Church preschool in Aiken, S.C., and at Meade Hall in Aiken, house mother at Meridith College in Raleigh, member of First Baptist Church in Shelby.
