Alice's parents were Alfred George Allaway, sometimes known as George, and Margaret Ellen (Cox) Allaway, sometimes known as Ellen. In most records, including her baptismal record, Alice's middle name was spelled "May." Alice's first husband was Blake Metzger. Alice and Blake's son, George Blake Metzger, died young at the age of 22 in an aviation accident while in the service, soon after his marriage in 1942 to Helen McClung. George, and his wife, Helen, had one child, born after George's death. Alice's second husband was Charles Wesley Camp.
