OBITUARY: Thomas Wendell Campbell
Thomas Wendell Campbell, 80, of Big Spring, died Thursday, June 21, 2007, in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2007, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Dwayne Wheat, pastor of Berea Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.He was born July 4, 1926, in Roby and married Billie Vernell Payne on April 3, 1954 in Big Spring. She preceded him in death Nov. 20, 2004.Mr. Campbell came to Big Spring as a child, with his family and grew up and attended school in Big Spring. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He owned and operated Campbell Concrete Contractors for many years, until retiring. He was a member of Berea Baptist Church and belonged to the American Legion Post 508.Survivors include one son, Tommy Campbell of Big Spring; two daughters, Toni Cline of San Antonio, and Nena Cruz of Big Spring; one sister, Nona Faye Brunson of Big Spring; eight grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.He was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister and five brothers.
