A skillful infielder, he was selected to the All-Star team in 1939, 1941 and was the National League's Most Valuable Player in 1941. He ended his career with a record of 1482 hits, 239 homeruns, 950 runs batted in, a .277 batting average and .990 fielding percentage. Camilli was inducted into the Dodgers Hall of Fame in 1984.
