Mrs. Jane Elizabeth Kahle Cameron, age 97, of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on December 7, 1909, in Oil City, Pennsylvania, on the family farm. She was the daughter of George William & Sarah Adelaide Irwin Kahle, both of whom preceded her in death. She was raised on the family farm and was a 1927, graduate of Oil City Senior High School. She then attended Clarion State Teacher's College receiving her teaching certificate in elementary education. She later received her art degree from Edinborough State Teacher's College. Jane was united in marriage on June 25, 1936, in Oil City, Pennsylvania to William Edward Cameron, to this union arrived two daughters to bless their home. She began teaching elementary education in the Oil City School District until her daughter's were born. She left teaching for awhile until her daughters were raised. She then began teaching again in the Oil City School District, teaching Kindergarten for many years, retiring after 22 years of service. She was a charter member of the Alpha Tau Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a world wide network of educators. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. Jane was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oil City, and was proud to have served as the first woman Elder. She also served on many committees in the Church, primarily in Christian Education, and helped with teaching Sunday school. Jane resided all of her life in Oil City, until the death of her beloved husband after 63 years of marriage. In the fall of 1998, Jane moved to Madison to be near her daughters. Jane was the matriarch of her family and was highly respected by many extended family members for her knowledge and care of family events. She was an artist, who enjoyed watercolors & oil painting. She enjoyed sewing, stitching, needlework, reading, & gardening. Jane enjoyed being a community minded person and enjoyed her many friendships and activities that she was involved in through her years in Oil City. Jane died Monday, March 26, 2007 at 5:55 am at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana.

Mrs. Cameron will be missed by her daughters: Jane Elizabeth Cameron of Madison, Indiana and Sally Cameron Smith & her husband: Carl, Sr. of Louisville, Kentucky; her grandchildren: Lisa Cameron Smith of San Francisco, California and Carl R. Smith, Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky; her great granddaughter: Anna Elizabeth Riggle Smith of Louisville, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews & other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents: George William & Sarah Adelaide Irwin Kahle; her husband: William Edward Cameron died: April 16, 1998; her sisters: Clara Mae Loveless & Sarah Adelaide Bracken Hazel; her brothers: George William Kahle, Jr.; James Wiser Kahle; Robert L. Kahle & Jack Wade Kahle.

Funeral services will be conducted at a later date at Morrison Funeral Home, 110 Petroleum Street, Oil City, Pennsylvania. Interment will be in the Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens, Oil City, Pennsylvania.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Oil City or Meal on Wheels or Visiting Nurse Association or the Donor's Favorite Charity. Cards are available at the funeral home.
