Evelyn Ann (Smithpeter) Callihan, known mostly to her family and friends as "Nanny", age 59, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at her home.

Nanny was born May 14, 1953 to William (Bill) and Mary (Henderson) Smithpeter, Sr. in Carrollton, Carroll County, Missouri. On September 22, 1985, Nanny married Gerald (Jerry) Wayne Callihan in Carrollton, Missouri. They were blessed with one child, Mary Elizabeth Callihan.

She was a 1971 graduate of Bogard High School, Bogard, Missouri. Following graduation, she worked as an activity director for Apple Ridge Nursing Home in Waverly, Missouri, and Methodist Church daycare. Nanny was active in 4H and belonged to the Bogard Methodist Church in Bogard, Missouri.

Nanny is survived by her husband, Jerry Callihan of Carrollton, MO ; one daughter "Liz" of Carrollton, MO; one brother, William Scott Smithpeter of Lees Summit, MO; three sisters, Mary Esther Smithpeter of Kansas City, MO, Sue Smithpeter of Independence, MO, and Jacqueline (Smithpeter) Banks of Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren, Jullien and Ellijah Cardenas of Carrollton, MO; nieces and nephews, Michelle Smithpeter, Nichole Weeks, Ryan Adkins, Sausha Houk, Jeff Adkins, Maddyn Smithpeter, Caeden Smithpeter, Callen Smithpeter; three great nephews, Devante Trotter, LaSaun Weeks, Trevon Critton.

Preceding her in death were her parents, William and Mary Smithpeter, paternal grandparents, Roscoe and Evelyn Smithpeter, and maternal grandparents, Otto and Ann Henderson.

Nanny will long be remembered for her exhuberance for life and her endearing smile and hugs that she shared with everyone.

Visitation to be held Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Bittiker Funeral Home, with services to follow at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Cheryl Sanders officiating. Burial at Ebenezer Cemetery, west of Bogard, Missouri.

Family suggests memorials to be made to family's choice in memory of Nanny. They may be left at or mailed to Bittiker Funeral Home P.O. Box 223 Carrollton, Missouri 64633
