James Reed Callender Sr.

ARCADIA, LA - Jim Callender died November 24 at his home after a long illness. He was 69. Mr. Callender grew up in Haynesville, Louisiana. He attended LSU in Baton Rouge where he received a B.S. Degree in Engineering and Geology. He was also a member of The Explorer's Club since 1979. He was employed by Unocal (now Chevron) for 30 years and retired in 1994 as Worldwide Drilling Operations Manager. He then moved to Claiborne Parish, Louisiana where he consulted in the oil and gas industry as well as operating his cattle ranch. Mr. Callender is preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Mabel Callender. He is survived by his loving wife of eighteen years, Klaudya, and his four sons James Reed Callender, Jr. and fiance Irina Kotova of Shreveport, Guy and Sissy Callender, and Trey Callender and Zach Callender all of Claiborne Parish. He is also survived by one grandson, James Reed Callender, III of Moore, Oklahoma. The memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 1, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Hwy. 146, Homer, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or charity of your choice.
