He was born November 5, 1921, in Buckley, Mich., the son of William Eber and Sarah cook Calkins. Employed by Oldsmobile in Lansing for 32 years, he retired in 1979.
He was married October 19, 1940, in Ionia to Alice Moorman; she survives him.
Also surviving are a son, Robert of Inoia; three daughters, Bette J. Ardis, of Ionia, Shirley cook of Traverse City and Rosalie Patton of Ionia; 14 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a brother, Arthur, of Ionia.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. from the Roetman Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Balcom Cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
A memorial for the Michigan Heart Association has been established, in care of the funeral home.
