KEGLEY - On August 10, 2015, a dear Mother, sister, and friend passed away like a lamb to the arms of the Great Shepherd. Betty Lou Calfee Bailey entered this World on March 26, 1939. She was raised in Lake Shawnee, WV - one of ten children born to Roscoe and Roxie Tilley Calfee. As a young vibrant girl growing up in the country, Betty loved to roller skate, swim, play softball and SING! Betty loved to sing, and in younger days sang both in a family gospel quartet, as well as her church choir for many years. Betty's lovely alto voice, ever present in the home, imbued a love of music in her children and grandchildren to this day. As a young woman still a teen, Betty married Larry J. Bailey from Matoaka, WV, and had three children, Gregory, Carla, and Michael. A great tragedy fell upon Betty as a young mother when her firstborn son, Gregory, was lost to an accident at 8 years of age. Despite enduring such a horrific loss, Betty kept her Faith in God, as well as her beautiful, forgiving Spriit, a blessing to all who knew her. Betty's happiest moments were with her family, siblings, children and grandchildren. Her devotion to her children and grandchildren was beyond exceptional. Her compassion and love was boundless. Betty Lou Bailey is survived by her husband Larry J. Bailey of Kegley, WV; her daughter Carla L. Sanders, grandson Daniel Adam Sanders, and granddaughter Rebecca Sanders of Lexington, KY; son Michael Bailey and granddaughter Laura Beth Bailey of Lake Wylie, SC; siblings Carl Calfee, Helen McBride, Shelby Anthony, and Rev. Ralph Calfee of Princeton, WV and Jack Calfee of Decatur, IL; and daughter-in-law Laurie Bailey whose kindness to her mother-in-law over the past year was extraordinary. Come join us in celebration of Betty's life at First Assembly of God Church, Princeton, WV where she was a devoted member for over 35 years, on Monday August 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Brad Puckett officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Peace to all.
