Services for Nellie Calcote Denman, of Guntersville, Ala., formerly of the Auburn community in Lincoln County, are 10 a.m. Friday, June 9, at Adams United Methodist Church in Smithdale with burial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is today from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Denman, 81, died June 6, 2006, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. She was born in Lincoln County on April 21, 1925, to W.H. Calcote and Ruth Ann Smith Calcote.
She was a retired teacher, having taught in Mississippi for 27 years. She was a graduate of West Lincoln High School, Copiah-Lincoln Junior College and Mississippi State College for Women. She was a member of Adams United Methodist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her sisters, Louise Moorer and Elsie White.
Survivors are her husband of 59 years, William H. Denman, of Guntersville; her son, Bill Denman and wife Jenay, of Atlanta; her daughters, Janet Langley and husband John, of Guntersville, Nancy Carter and husband Dean, of Huntsville, Ala., and Ann Denman, of Guntersville; her brothers, James Calcote, of Gulfport, and David Calcote, of Brookhaven; her sisters, Flora Byrd, of Atlanta, Dorothy Poole, of Hernando, and Ruth Way, of Georgetown, Texas; her five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
