Born March 6, 1928, in Beaumont, Texas, Iris was the daughter of Tula Frances Rhymes Cain and Zee Hoyt Cain.
She was the former owner and operator of The Basket Case Greenhouse, co-owner of Abney Farms, an active member of First Baptist Church of Nome and a 4-H leader.
She is survived by her sons, Ken Abney and his wife, Carolyn, Kerry Abney and his wife, Pat and Brian Abney and his wife, Sharon; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Iris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Conway Abney; and daughter, Sue Keay.
