Mrs. Wilhoit’s Mother Dies
Here, While Husband’s
Father Expires in Mo.

FUNERAL HERE TODAY

Body of Mrs. Alice Cagle, Formerly of
This City But More Recently of
Stuttgart, to be Interred Here.

While preparing a telegram to be sent to her husband, S. E. Whilhoit, at Springfield, Mo., concerning the death of her mother, Mrs. Alice Cagle, which occurred yesterday afternoon shortly after 4 o’clock, the doorbell rang and Mrs. Wilhoit was handed a telegram announcing the death of her father-in-law, J. M. Wilhoit, who passed away at Springfield yesterday afternoon.
Mr. Wilhoit, who was 83 years old, was the father of S. E. and Rush Wilhoit, who until last year owned and operated the Orpheo Threatre in this city.
The elder Mr. Wilhoit was an extensive farmer and owned a large apple orchard in Springfield. He shipped many apples into Arkansas. During the residence of his sons in this city he shipped to Pine Bluff each summer a number of carloads of apples which were disposed of to local wholesale men by his sons. He visited his sons in this city last year, during which time he made the acquaintance of a large circle of friends.
Mrs. Cagle, who was 54 years of age, died yesterday afternoon shortly after 4 o’clock at the Davis Hospital, where she had been undergoing treatment for some time. She was until last year a resident of Pine Bluff, but left here to make her home in Stuttgart. Her illness extended over a period of three months.
Besides her husband, W. J. Cagle, she is survived by three sons, S. T. Cagle of Stuttgart, N. Cagle of Benton and Ernest Cagle of Stuttgart; three daughters, Mrs. S. E. Whilhoit of Springfield, Mo., and the Misses Mollie and Vera Cagle of Stuttgart.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cagle will be conducted this morning at 10:30 o’clock from the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Galloway, 1719 East Barraque Street.
