A memorial gathering for Lela Thelma Cade, 91, of Coos Bay, will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, at 194 D St., in Coos Bay. Interment was at the Yankton Hillcrest Cemetery in St. Helens.

Lela was born June 15, 1914, in Roseburg, to William L. and Eva (Waymire) Stone. She died July 22, 2005, in Coos Bay.

She attended school in Roseburg, and married Theodore "Ted" Shellabarger in June 1935. They had two sons, Patrick L. and Phillip L. Shellabarger. In 1941, the family moved to Eastside.

In May 1956, Ted was killed in a logging accident. Lela lived in Eastside until Jan. 19, 1974, when she married Harvey E. Cade in St. Helens. They lived in Vernonia until 1996. When Harvey died, she moved back to Eastside to be near hear family. For the last few years, she lived and received loving care at Bruekner's Adult Foster Care in Coos Bay.

Lela is survived by a brother, Marvin Stone of Roseburg; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Shirley Shellabarger of Coos Bay; grandchildren, Ronda Shorb and Phil Shellabarger of Powers, Patricia Shellabarger of Coos Bay, Diane Esparza of San Antonio and Edward Shellabarger of Hauser; and eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, two nieces and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Eva Stone; brother, William Stone Jr.; sisters, Elsie McGeehee and Lorena Hammond; and son, Patrick Shellabarger.
