U.S. Navy Mother's Claim for Pension No. Nav.WO.3,166, declaration made by Mrs. Laura Cornish on 14 December 1883 states that son George Cornish volunteered about 15 August 1863. Goes on to list other children, names of their spouses, and where they live. Explains that they were dependent on George to work the land, since the other children were married and gone. With George dead, Albert helped his parents, and was eventually deeded their land in return for his help. She states that her husband had no fixed salary as a Minister for over twenty years prior to his death in 1872.

( Original in possession of Jim and Debbie McArdle, 2018) Written on the back, in Jim McArdle's grandmother's writing, it says: "great grandma Cornish 93." Jim's paternal grandmother was Mabel Stafford McArdle was
1) daughter of Laura Ann Thomas and Edward Steel Stafford.
2) granddaughter of Miner Thomas and Rachel E. Cornish.
3) great granddaughter of Laura Stone Cornish, wife of Rev. Aaron Cornish

QUESTIONS:
1) Does "93" signify the year 1893, or does it signify the individual's age? There is no apostrophe in front of the number.
2) Laura Stone Cornish died 2 months short of the age of 91. She did not live to the age of 93, nor was she alive in 1893. Rather, I think Grandma Mabel Stafford McArdle was guessing Laura's age.
