A memorial service for Elizabeth Luthi Byrum "Sister," 64, of Chapin, S.C. will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 at Washington Street United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lexington Medical Center Foundation, Cancer Fund, 2720 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia, SC 29169 or Washington Street United Methodist Church, 1401 Washington Street, Columbia, SC 29201 or the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 531 South Main Street, Suite ML-10, Greenville, SC 29601.

Mrs. Byrum was born July 19, 1948 in Kingstree, S.C. and passed away on Monday, Sept. 3, 2012. She was a daughter of the late E. Benjamin Luthi and Margaret Altman Luthi.

She was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, James David Byrum; daughter, Margo Byrum Weir (Matt) of Roseville, Calif.; a brother, George P. Luthi (Suzan) of Statesville, N.C.; a sister, Melanie Luthi Goins (Edward) of Georgetown, S.C.; grandchildren, Kennedy Elizabeth Weir and Karsen Emma Weir of Roseville; five nieces and one nephew, all whom love their special Sissy.

She was predeceased by her father; mother and brother, Gordon B. Luthi.

The family would like to expresses their deepest gratitude to Dr. Steven Madden, Nurse Sharon Nipper, and the entire oncology staff at Lexington Medical Center for the positive effect and motivational influence they had, not only on Sister, but the rest of the family over the past three years.
