Elizabeth Robertson Byrum, 92, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011 in her home.
Mrs. Byrum was born in Gates County and was one of 12 children of the late Patrick Henry and Flora Mae Pierce Robertson. A homemaker, she was a member of Eureka Baptist Church, its W.M.U., the Ida K. Brinkley Sunday School Class, the Young At Hearts Seniors Group, had taught the Euzelian Sunday School Class for many years, and also enjoyed membership in the Gates County Home Demonstration Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Baker Byrum, Sr., a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Byrum, a son, Elton B. Byrum, Jr., and a son-in-law, Richard Ragland.
Surviving are two daughters, Helen Ragland and Gloria Wiggins (Jeff), a sister, Gladys Andrews, all of Richmond; five grandchildren, Loring Wiggins, Jr. of Richmond, Mark Ragland of Prince George, VA, Tracy Creef of Kill Devil Hills, Burt Byrum (Lynna) of Corapeake and Teresa Sonin (Nik) of Suffolk, VA; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in Eureka Baptist Church by the Rev. Mickey Willard and the Rev. Cameron Currin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence.
