Charles was age 84. He grew up in the San Joaquin Valley and graduated from Coalinga High School. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War.
Charles and Barbara Dahlberg married in 1955. They lived in San Francisco, where he was a controller for Crown Zellerbach. They later moved to Arnold, where Byrnes opened Ebbetts Pass Accounting. He also opened and operated The Blue Spruce boutique, with stores in Arnold, Angels Camp and Santa Cruz.
Byrnes lived the final years of his life in Fresno. He is survived by his wife Barbara and his sons Mike (Michelle) of Sacramento and Mark (Suzanne) of Fresno; brothers Larry (Vivian) of Murphys and Dennis (Rosalee) of Oakhurst as well as five grandchildren.
