Mrs. Catherine Butts Collins, 89, of Bolivar, WV. passed away on Friday at her residence.

Mrs. Collins, born in Bolivar, WV., was the daughter of the late Roy Spencer Butts and Nina Filler Butts. She was a retired school teacher from the Pleasant Valley Elementary School in Brownsville, MD. She was a life long member of the Bolivar United Methodist Church where she was active in the Pollyanna's, the Methodist Women, the church choir and youth programs.
Catherine graduated from Harpers Ferry High School in 1939 and Shepherd College in 1943. She was a member of the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority and Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. She began her teaching career at the Sandy Hook School in 1943 and transferred to Pleasant Valley Elementary in 1961, until her reitirement. She also was a life member in the Maryland Congress of Parents and Teachers and the Harpers Ferry Women's Club. She enjoyed outdoor sports,travel, antique collecting and photography.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Reverend Alfred P. Collins, at the home, close friends Ron and Wanda Lemon of Bolivar, and Peg and Dr. K.C. Nau of Shepherstown, loving care givers, Linda Blankenship, Andrea Legge, Donna Sowers, April Freeman, Ashley Sowers and other vaarious care givers.

The family recieved friends at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, US 340 at Halltown Road, Charles Town/Harpers Ferry, WV on Sunday evening, November 7, 2010, from 7-9pm.

The funeral services were held at 11am, Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Bolivar United Methodist Church with the Reverend Douglas Fraim officiating.

Burial was made in Harpers Cemetery, Harpers Ferry, WV.
